One of the first things you’ll want to take into account is what your NC lot looks like. In most cases, people building up in the mountains want their home to complement the natural beauty of their lot.
It’s likely that you spent a lot of time finding the perfect location for your dream home, and you’ll want to do everything you can to enhance that mountain view, rather than detract from it. The first thing to do will be to decide what type of design and aesthetic you’re looking for that goes with the lot you have. It’s always helpful to look at mountain homes online and in magazines, but it may be just as useful to take a drive around the mountains near your home to see what others have done with their NC lots.
Once you’ve got your inspiration taken care of, it’s time to add in a bit of reality. You’ll want to establish a hard budget to work with because that will make it much easier to continue the building process without spending more than you can afford. Decide exactly what your hard limit is on the budget, and do everything you can to stick to it.
