This time of year means colder weather, an end to the growing season, and oftentimes an end to some great summer activities – including farmers markets. Your favorite local farmers markets have probably closed by now and you might be feeling a little blue without your fresh produce. Luckily, there’s a way to remedy that. We’ve got a list of four different places you can get your local fresh food fix this winter right here in Asheville.

WNC Farmers Market – While most farmers markets close down or stop in November, the WNC farmers market stay open right through the chilly months and back into the spring. This year-round market is held seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM right near downtown Asheville. Complete with a café that serves delicious baked goods and farm-fresh entrées, you’ll be able to purchase your in-season, local produce no matter what time of the year.

Hickory Nut Gap Farm – A family owned USDA Certified Organic produce and meat farm, the Hickory Nut Gap Farm offers organic and farm-fresh goods all year round. Just a short 20 minute drive from downtown Asheville, you can visit the farm store any day of the week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM to buy their goods, or you can visit their website to see which stores in downtown Asheville sell their products. The farm also offers a Meat CSA, which entitles you to either 10 or 15 lbs of meat per month, that you can pick up at your convenience. During the growing seasons, Hickory Nut Gap Farm also offers a U-Pick schedule, where you can pick your own berries and apples, as they are in season.

Asheville Goods – An excellent way to try new local products, Asheville Goods is an online shop that selects seasonal, high-quality local goods, packages them in eco-friendly boxes, and ships the boxes out to their customers. If you live in central Asheville, you also have the option of delivery for bulk orders.
